Hello! My name is Dorothy Russell. I have been machine knitting since 1982. My knitting career has spanned most makes of knitting machine and the City & Guilds course (UK).

It was during Part 1 of the City & Guilds course that I expressed the wish for a computer software program to help speed up the execution of some aspects of the course requirements. It had to be quick to learn and simple to operate. Budget price was also a consideration. There wasn't such a program on the market. After some lengthy lamenting of the situation my son stepped in, building me a customised knit stitch design program - MSAPCD (Mylar Sheet And Punch Card Design), which over the years has grown to incorporate more requested features and spawned HueDraw - a general purpose stitch design program (I use both of these programs for all my designing and printing needs).

Armed with a computer, suitable software and a desire to create and market my own unique designs, I created a number of motifs and printed them as traceable mylar sheet templates for my Brother 950i knitting machine. I then made these available to the general public. Frandor Formats was born! Having received favourable reviews for both the programs and my designs/patterns in several national machine knitting magazines (as far apart as UK, America and Australia), interest in my mail order products has expanded over the past five years. As a result, I now offer a much larger range of products, brief descriptions of which can be viewed on my web pages - a free price list and more detailed illustrated catalogue is available which will give format availability and information on how to order.
